Psychedelic Mushrooms
Psychedelic mushrooms, also known as magic mushrooms or simply shrooms, are fungi that contain psychoactive compounds such as psilocybin and psilocin. These compounds are responsible for the hallucinogenic effects experienced when consuming these mushrooms. Psychedelic mushrooms have a long history of use in various cultures for spiritual, shamanic, and recreational purposes.
When ingested, the psilocybin in psychedelic mushrooms is converted to psilocin in the body, which then interacts with serotonin receptors in the brain, particularly the 5-HT2A receptors. This interaction leads to profound changes in perception, thoughts, and emotions. Users often experience visual hallucinations, altered sense of time and space, and enhanced introspection. The effects of psychedelic mushrooms can vary depending on the species and dosage, but generally last between 4 to 6 hours.
